
AHRQ’s Newest Addition to the CAHPS Family of Surveys
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) recently released the new CG CAHPS survey as the latest addition to the CAHPS Family of Surveys. The CG CAHPS survey is designed to measure patient satisfaction and general experience with their physician.
The Myers Group is exceptionally qualified to administer the CG CAHPS Survey, having conducted a similar Member Experience with Physician Survey for several years.
Reasons healthcare organizations choose to conduct the CG CAHPS survey:
- NCBD plans to develop a national benchmark component which will allow organizations to compare their results. Therefore, plans may choose to conduct the CG CAHPS survey now to obtain baseline results and implement quality improvement initiatives prior to the upcoming benchmark.
- The revised CAHPS 4.0H survey tool places added emphasis on patient/provider relations. The CG CAHPS survey can be a valuable resource for obtaining additional drill-down information on patient experience with provider.

As with our existing Member Experience with Physician Survey, the CG CAHPS survey provides information that can be used with a plan’s Pay-for-Performance initiatives as well as quality improvement programs. In addition to our comprehensive final report, The Myers Group provides Individual Physician Report Cards for maximum drilldown and comparative results.
- The CG CAHPS survey is designed to target results at the individual physician or group level.
AHRQ has also developed a list of supplemental questions and recommendations regarding placement. The CG CAHPS survey is available in both English and Spanish for the following populations:
